I am a detail-oriented development professional with a Master's degree in Global Affairs and five years of experience in fundraising and grant writing. I am passionate about working with mission-driven organizations to help them achieve their revenue goals by connecting their theory of change, projects, and programs to funders' programmatic objectives. As a Lead Writer at English Hudson, I work with numerous clients, providing essential donor communications and grant writing services. Clients have included UnidosUS (formerly National Council of La Raza), Faith in Action, Haitian Ladies Network, CLLCTIVLY, Americans for Financial Reform and their c3 counterpart Americans for Financial Reform Education Fund, Women's Prison Association (WPA), the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA), and the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies. At the heart of each of these organizations is a focus on justice. Using my unique background in the social sciences and dynamic work experience in government contracting, global health, and fundraising, I assisted each client with writing compelling donor communications, proposals, and grant reports that inform their donors and funders of their unique value propositions and the many ways they are contributing to a just and equitable world. Accomplishments to date include writing a winning proposal that helped UnidosUS obtain a multi-year, multi-million dollar ($11.4M) grant with the U.S Department of Commerce to create meaningful and quality jobs for Latinx communities in Puerto Rico and Denver, Colorado; more than $3M for Faith in Action, and sustained grant writing for the aforementioned clients.

As the Grant Consultant, I worked with two of Bloom's clients: AtWork and Cares of Washington--two nonprofits working to provide people with disabilities workforce development opportunities ( fairly-paid employment and career training) and supporting the social needs of the people they serve. My responsibilities included client management, project management, prospect research, and grant writing. Accomplishments included identifying and creating a 12-month calendar of grant deadlines, cultivation, and stewardship activities that included 80-90 foundation prospects, and the continuation of grant writing that assisted the client with raising critical revenue of $50,000 during my four-month contract.

I provided Tahirih Justice Center, a national charitable non-governmental organization, with the following grant writing services: • Writing tailored grant proposals and reports to funders.• Partnering with local and national office staff to provide accurate updates to foundations on year-to-date progress against proposed goals.• Gathering, editing, and creating files that supplement proposal narratives, giving a full picture of Tahirih’s rigor and impact.

As the Individual Giving Associate at Population Action International (PAI), I managed the following responsibilities: monthly donors, prospect research, workplace giving campaigns, and proposal writing and reports for family foundations. Through this role, I have acquired an in-depth knowledge of fundraising, including foundation relations. Through prospect research, I managed and created strategies for a portfolio of more than 100 donors. I played an impactful role in developing and overseeing the review and submission process of grant proposals and reports to family foundations. I coordinated the development of written proposals, fundraising plans, and other materials needed to deepen prospect engagement for securing major gifts. I created and used prospect research to assist in formulating prospect strategies. I secured $100K in unrestricted revenue during my tenure by writing comprehensive proposals and reports to family foundations by identifying and describing high-level topics that fell within PAI's technical expertise. Additionally, I strengthened relations with 100+ key donors by developing strategies to personalize cultivation and stewardship plans for PAI's CEO, Vice President of External Relations, and Director of Individual Giving. These plans resulted in a 15% increase in annual, major, and main donations. Simultaneously, it generated more than $1.1M in yearly unrestricted funding. I also developed enhanced and efficient processes for the department, specifically by managing prospect development and the department's constituent relations management system through Salesforce.

For five months, I worked as the Interim Foundation Relations Associate as a team member was on parental leave. I became experienced in writing grants and proposals, particularly to institutional donors such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, William + Flora Hewlett Foundation, David and Lucille Packard Foundation, Head Family Charitable Foundation, Wellspring Philanthropic Fund, F.M Kirby Foundation, Wiancko Charitable Foundation, Wyss Foundation, and United Nations Foundation. Excitingly, it was a hands-on learning experience in which I excelled. As a result, I generated $3M in restricted funding for initiatives in Latin America, the Caribbean, sub-Saharan Africa, and South-East Asia. Due to my accomplishments, I was given more grant writing responsibilities within the development department.

As the Development Coordinator, I oversaw the coordination of the development division and other departments at PAI. I managed gift entries and acknowledgment letters, workplace giving campaigns and assisted with prospect research for our Board-hosted events. I raised $30K in workplace giving campaigns by marketing technical work to targeted audiences using LinkedIn ads and writing compelling cultivation and stewardship materials for Board members. I progressed into a promotion role because of my exceptional performance.

I supported a group of senior researchers at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) with an evaluation assessment to test the 2015 MCAT validity. I evaluated over 200 syllabi from 17 medical schools to identify and create learning outcomes which the MCAT should predict.

I conducted archival research using multiple library systems related to the General Agreement on Tariffs &Trade, the World Trade Organization, and the U.S Trade Representatives.

I managed the tracking of more than $120 million of U.S. Department of Education's OSEP Personnel Development Program grants to more than 800 institutions and 20,000 students by providing technical assistance and coordination between inquirers, project managers, and the Office of Special Education (OSE).

Using French and English, I researched Haiti's culture and history to create a tourism brochure to stimulate the Haitian economy after the 2010 Haitian earthquake. I provided logistical support to the first-ever Haiti Business Investment Expo and Conference, organized by Haiti Renewal Alliance (HRA), which sought to convene global business leaders, government agencies, including USAID, and the nonprofit sector to promote sustainable economic development through foreign direct investment (FDI) in Haiti.
