While at Groupon, I worked on many different features for the site, primarily, a system of access control for internet deals. This allowed Groupon to show previously unused but very popular inventory to new and disengaged users. Which turned into a significant increase in both revenue and engagement with the site. The system supported millions of users and processed hundreds of thousands of requests per minute.I also helped develop the beginnings of a service to manage all the data around deals. This was one of the first and most important steps in the process of breaking about the monolithic Ruby on Rails code base and involved developing an internal api for deals that was used by many other subsystems within the company.
