As a NOC engineer to achieve my goal of maintaining a high level availability and quality service for our customers around the world, it was imperative that I had excellent relationships with all departments so I could collaborate with them seamlessly during emergency situations. It also required me to write up and share presentations on who the NOC is and why they aren’t just a secret room of tech nerds. This room however was shared with the security team as we worked closely together to resolve issues when we were targeted. This helped be become more familiar with new tools and trends as one of our values was to be quick to adapt to change. A few of the monitoring tools I used were Grafana, Wavefront, Splunk and Thousand Eyes - excellent for monitoring Network Security.

I made sure all of my clients servers had the latest security patches across their large environment as these clients were in the Bank, Finance and Health industries - where security is paramount.
