In my position as a Research Assistant at the Center for Preservation and Adaptive Reuse at the University of Washington, I provide design consulting on the ASUW Shell House adaptive reuse project, where I contribute to the design of a sustainable water reuse system. This involved integrating innovative technologies to optimize water usage while maintaining environmental sustainability. Additionally, I supported center tasks by assisting in the creation of a comprehensive studio booklet, showcasing the center's research and projects. Furthermore, I took the lead in the center's rebranding and website redesign efforts, aiming to enhance visibility and accessibility while reflecting the center's commitment to preservation and adaptive reuse. Through these endeavors, I contributed to advancing sustainable solutions and promoting awareness of architectural conservation practices within the university community and beyond.

My responsibilities include managing administrative tasks, developing grant proposals, and overseeing lab budgets and reports. Additionally, I support active research projects and monitor the design and maintenance of rainwater-irrigated biodiversity green walls. I also collaborated with Environmental Works on a community street redesign process for the City of Edmonds and supported the design and implementation of floating wetlands to enhance shelter for migrating salmon in urban waterways.

In my role as a Design Consultant for the Duwamish Valley Sustainability Association in Seattle, I spearheaded several initiatives aimed at enhancing community engagement and promoting sustainable practices. Firstly, I developed a comprehensive curriculum for a summer Landscape Architecture studio focused on urban flooding, tailored specifically for middle and high school youth. This curriculum aimed to educate and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards. Additionally, I planned and led a series of three community design workshops aimed at reimagining Jack Block Park. These workshops were designed to solicit input from residents and stakeholders, with the ultimate goal of enhancing outdoor access and recreation amenities in the South Park neighborhood. Through these initiatives, I aimed to foster a sense of ownership and empowerment within the community while promoting environmentally conscious design principles.

I worked on a team providing research and development services to Professor Hu on an origami inspired COVID-19 testing center, that will be constructed and used on campus in Fall. The criteria were that the structure must be collapsible down to a size for 1-2 people to carry, made of paper or cardboard, assembled in 12 hours by 1 person, and can house three separate spaces in 350sf. We are researching how the structural properties of origami folds can be incorporated into a collapsible structure to create a low-cost, compact, self-supporting structure. I used parametric modeling to enable easy customization and simulation of the folding process through an animation.

Invited to work with Douglas Crawford AIA and another student on a design competition submittal for the Washingtonian magazine. Together we designed a National Pandemic Memorial for D.C., housed under the Reflecting Pool. This project was centered around analyzing the values of the Washingtonian readers and editors, and using that information to drive our design. The elements of light and water were manipulated to evoke a sense of reflection and hope, reminding visitors that we will survive through COVID-19 and future pandemics to come.
