• Identified the gap in relevant English Proficiency (SEP) training content to target the communication needs of international medical graduates (IMGs). Developed targeted training materials that were published by Thieme© in 2020 to solve this problem.• Coached medical professionals (USMLE physician candidates internationally based andU.S. based licensed hospitalists) and business clients (intellectual property professionals at 3M) to accomplish their professional communication goals. Client surveys indicate that 66.7% rate their degree of improvement based on the training as 5/5; 33.3% rate their degree of improvement based on the training as 4/5.• Assessed needs of second attempt international USMLE Step 2 Clinical Skills Exam candidates. Implemented training with exam relevant approach and continuous feedback. Post-training follow-up indicated 80% of second attempt exam candidates passed (who were in the approximately 20% international exam candidates who failed their first attempt.)• Edited grammar, sentence structure and overall syntax to improve the clarity of 23 medical manuscripts for international physicians. As a result, 80% of the edited manuscripts were accepted for publication in medical journals.

South Campus - Adult Education

• Designed and delivered coherent instruction with 2-3 daily targeted learning objectives for classes of 18-35 learners. Used backwards design principles in lesson planning to build measurable competency activities. Assessed overarching learning outcomes based on 12 comprehensive academic and professional skill benchmark indicators.• Developed and adapted distance learning curriculum and modules for 15-20 adult learners in both synchronous (conference) courses and asynchronous (hybrid) delivery course formats. Utilized Schoology LMS tools to develop effective daily lessons, structure the online classroom with trimester-based scope and sequence, track individual progress and provide feedback. Success indicators include retention of 90% of the learners throughout the academic year and learner preference (78%) to continue with this DL format.• Developed two Medical Terminology Courses as a part of the Adult Career Pathway (ACP) program, ABE Bridge Courses for adult learners transitioning into medical assistant careers or higher education. Taught adult learners in two cohort groups using the curriculum. Used post-course evaluation to revise content and delivery. Based on available tracking data, 15% of learners went on to pursue higher education and, all 15% successfully passed their college level Introductory Medical Terminology courses. The curriculum is housed through Hamline University’s ABE Teaching & Learning Advanced System (ATLAS) site.

• Conducted end-to-end customized 15-week training experiences for Deloitte executives in need of communication solutions. Based on the repeated contracts with the company (I facilitated 8 cohorts in three years) and company exit evaluations, the customized offering was effective in achieving the desired communication solutions.• Facilitated kickoff groups of 8 participants, conducted weekly group coaching sessions with 4 participants in each, and provided midpoint one-on-one coaching check-ins to address individualized feedback. through online conferencing software; client surveys indicate that 66.7% rate their degree of improvement based on the training as 5/5; 33.3% rate their degree of improvement based on the training as 4/5.• Evaluated initial pronunciation assessments and post-assessments on training completion. Communicated individual pronunciation gains and advised on next steps.Participants averaged a 60% reduction in critical errors and reported significantly improved confidence in their ability to perform on the job.

• Designed and developed an Advanced Speaking & Listening Program as a part of The New Americans Center that served over 350 college-level learners in meeting their communication goals. Post-course surveys indicated that 85% of learners were highly satisfied and learned significantly from the course experience. 10% of learners were satisfied and stated they learned from the course experience. 5% did not indicate satisfaction with the range of offerings provided.• Created and facilitated project-based learning experiences in which small, self-selecting groups collaborated to research and present on relevant topics. Peer evaluation and feedback was central to this process. Course evaluations heavily pointed to these project- based learning experiences as the most valuable component of the course experience increasing learner confidence and perceived growth.• Supervised and provided training guidance for 14 volunteers who facilitated ongoing weekly learner groups differentiated by need and skill level. These skill labs met the learner need for greater differentiation in content offerings.
