I am an Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning and Economics double major at UC Davis and I know that policy is where I can have the biggest impact.I speak three languages, Farsi, English and French fluently, and am now working on my fourth (Spanish). I learned French at the Lycée International de Los Angeles where I attended from preschool to eighth grade, and together with the friends I made, I started Oui Tutor, a program that provides support to the students at the International School and donates the proceeds earned to support the school. During our second year, we expanded to provide daily tutoring services to Vibrant Minds Academy, a Title One school in Anaheim. We expanded from a group of seven tutors to nearly two dozen with hundreds of volunteer hours.I have been tutoring since seventh grade and have loved being able to help people understand and achieve their potential. I have had the pleasure of tutoring independently, with organizations, as well as having both volunteer and paid tutoring positions. It brings me joy to better other people's lives. That is one of the reasons I have spent so much of my time volunteering and being active within my community. During my time in high school, I led nearly twenty clubs and organizations. For example, as the Event Organizer for Surfrider, I organized our members for a number of beach and river cleanups every year. We were able to pick up hundreds of pounds of trash off of the beach and out of the Santa Ana River. Being able to do this work has held a special place in my heart because of its nature. I was able to help clean the beach, inspire others to get their hands dirty, and help organize my community to create real change.
