I love a challenge.When I wanted to become a runner, after never once running a mile in my life, I did it. I put the shoes on and I ran. When I wanted to write a mystery novel, put pen to paper and tell a weird story, I did it. I started typing, and suddenly I'd done 100,000 words.When I was in college and decided that I wanted to turn my English minor into an English major because I loved discussing books more than just about anything else, I did it. And then, I moved across the country to get my Master's in Teaching so that I could teach middle school kids how to love words as much as I do.I taught ELA to sixth and seventh graders and loved it; I loved making jokes with them, hearing their stories, helping them figure it all out. At my school, I was a leader who developed professional learning and worked with other teachers to collaborate and innovate. Then the pandemic hit, and things got harder, and overnight I learned how to teach to a computer screen.When I decided that I wanted something different, I figured out where I could use my strengths and interests in a different way: EdTech sales. Throughout my first year in sales, I got to talk to educators about how they teach and learn, and it was a joy. Using my professional knowledge to impact ELA education was an honor and a an absolute privilege.After spending a year in full cycle sales, I made the switch to an entirely new industry: Self-storage!
