I am a literature enthusiast first and foremost. I am a scholar of British and Popular Literature, with a particular interest in historical and cultural impact of literature. My favorite area of consideration is mystery and detective fiction from the Victorian to the modern. In addition to reading and studying literature, my concentration is focused on teaching writing at the collegiate level. I have previously taught introductory academic composition courses. I like to engage in continual academic discourse, attending conferences and editing for a graduate student journal. Outside of academics, I act as a freelance editor for aspiring authors, offering feedback and critique during the preliminary stages of seeking publication. I have many years of experience in leadership and management positions, where I have studied techniques of leadership development and built tools to effectively lead and teach in a classroom environment and contribute positively to the performance of my team and colleagues. I aim to enrich the learning experience of my students while fostering an environment that promotes independent thought while building skills necessary for success both in academics and as free-thinking, informed individuals. I believe that literature is a powerful force in connecting people to each other and to the world around them.
