Darci Wright is a recent graduate of the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith where she earned her Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education as a percussionist. Upon her graduation, she earned the UAFS Academic Excellence Award in Music Education, Outstanding Internship Award, and graduated with Honors Magna Cum Laude. She is a native of Waldron, Arkansas. Darci is currently a graduate student at The Florida State University and is working toward earning her M.M. Percussion Performance degree. As a student, Darci achieved numerous academic achievements. Such accomplishments included earning a spot on the UAFS Dean’s list every semester of her college career and attaining membership in the Lambda Kappa Kappa Psi fraternity, Percussive Arts Society (PAS), UAFS Woodwinds Club, UAFS Percussion Club, National Association for Future Music Educators (NAfME), Omnia Vox (vocal club at UAFS), Timbre (composer club at UAFS), Oklahoma Modern Music Collective (OKMMC), and Babb Center for Student Professional Development (CSPD). Additionally, Darci has held the titles of UAFS Percussion Club President, UAFS Woodwinds Club Vice President, Social Media Manager of the OKMMC, and Kappa Delta Pi National Honor Society Invitee. Darci was also the Social Media Director for the UAFS Percussion Ensemble.Darci has taught at multiple schools in the Arkansas and Oklahoma area, managed her own private percussion studio, and assisted at various band camps in the summers. Students of Darci’s recently succeeded in placing in the Arkansas All-Region Junior High and Senior High School First Bands, as well as the Arkansas All-Region Orchestra timpani position, and Arkansas All-State band.With one of her strongest passions being performing, Darci has performed with the East Side Baptist Worship Band, River Valley Community Band, UAFS Percussion Ensemble, UAFS Symphonic Band, UAFS Wind Ensemble, UAFS Opera Musical Theater Workshop, UAFS Athletic Band, and College Band Director’s National Association Intercollegiate Band. Professionally, Darci has performed with the Arkansas Musicworks Brass Band and recently earned a spot in the percussion section with the Fort Smith Symphony.After earning her Master's degree, Darci plans to earn her Doctoral degree in percussion performance. Her ultimate goal is to perform and educate at the highest level in the percussion world and be inducted into the PAS Hall of Fame. As of now, there are only four females in the PAS Hall of Fame, with the first inductee being in 1972.
