I am a Mechatronics engineer with extensive experience with the design, implementation, fabrication, testing, and demonstration of advanced autonomous systems to service R&D needs across several branches of the ADF. In my professional life I have worked from developer up to lead across a number of different projects and initiatives through the office, workshop, and field. My team and I combined advanced algorithms, AI and sensors into embedded systems to aid autonomous navigation and provide real time insights for operators.In addition I am a UNSW alumni with a first class honours degree in Bachelor of Engineering as well as a Bachelor of Computer Science (Embedded Systems) degree. As part of my studies I completed a practical industry thesis designing a fatigue testing machine for foot orthoses. I led a team of ten final year engineering students who designed, programmed and manufactured a prototype to test orthotics designed for use by children with physical disabilities.I have experience over a wide range of technologies and associated tooling across a number of domains including robotics, OS subsystems, control systems, drivers, real-time systems (RTAI), DevOps, computer vision and AI. I have worked on hardware including servers, SBC’s SOM’s, micro-controllers and FPGA’s. I have made use of camera’s, IMU’s, LIDARs (rangefinder + full), depth sensors (stereoscopic), LEDs, motors and servos. I have utilised Ardupilot, ROS 1&2, Gstreamer, React, QT, Docker, Harbor, [Civ|A]TAK, OpenCV, pytorch, Jenkins and Yocto. I am familiar with digital and real tools such as Git, Jira, Cmake, Altium, Solidworks, Matlab, the terminal, hand tools, machines and electrical instrumentation. I have worked through I2C, CAN, UART, TCP and UDP over wire and (for IP transmissions) over air. I know C/C++, C#, Go, Java, JavaScript (HTML, CSS, CSV, JSON & YAML), Python, Matlab, VHDL, Mips.
