Dr. Jill Mcgaughy'S Lab, Conant Hall, Durham, Nh

Translational neuroscience lab dedicated to understanding the role of Acetlycholine in attention. Dr. McGaughy's previous lab work has dealt with drug exposure to marjiuana as well as ADHD medications. The current lab work I have been helping with is dedicated to understanding the attentional deficits of rats with fetal alcohol exposure. During my year with this lab I have learned how to perform two different attentional set-shifting tasks ( the Intradimensional/Extradimensional shift and 4 intradimensional shift tasks) and operant box sustained attention testing. I was able to perform a trans-cardial perfusion during my time here. I recently finished performing immunohistochemistry staining for norepinephrine fibers in the brain. I have also done various data analyses such as neural fiber counting, calculating latencies, and data entry into excel.
