I worked on the Burdett Trust funded project entitled Implementing Nutrition Screening in Community Care for Older People. The study was informed by Normalization Process Theory (NPT) and aimed to improve nutritional health of older people in the community, by supporting implementation of a new procedure for screening and treatment of malnutrition. I was responsible for collecting the final set of longitudinal data using the NoMAD survey instrument based on NPT and I analysed the results. I alsofollowed this up with telephone interviews and analysed the qualitative data using NVivo software. I provided monthly reports to the study steering group and communicated with the participants who included community nurses, occupational therapists and health support workers.

I worked on the NIHR funded project PRESENT, developing an automated approach to analysing free-text comments from patients’ experience surveys, and a dashboard to display the results of the analysis to healthcare professionals. I was responsible for organizing, conducting and qualitative analysis of data generated by concept mapping workshops and follow-up interviews with healthcare professionals, carers and patients; as well as proof of concept, walk-through interviews exploring healthcare professionals’ engagement with the dashboard. I was responsible for recruitment and liaising with participants at all stages of the research. I designed two surveys and collaborated with a health economist to develop a discrete choice experiment based on the findings of the literature review. I also recruited members of our user advisory group and steering committee and maintained a successful collaboration with them.

My role involved collecting qualitative data (interviews and observation through video-recording), maintaining an on-going relationship with research participants, and conducting thematic analysis of interview transcripts (using NVivo).

I worked as a Research Fellow on the RCUK funded project entitled ‘The role of community-based organisations in energy saving’. I was a part of a multi-disciplinary research team and my role involved arranging and conducting face-to-face surveys with over 80 participants, collating the data and presenting it to other members of the team, as well as co-ordinating administrative issues.

I was part of a team specifying the research focus and designing the interview questions.
