As the Business Development Representative I am responsible for enrolling new members in the SAFE Bar Network and maintaining relationships with current members. Through SAFE Bar Network training we empower bar teams to build a culture of open dialogue and communication surrounding bystander intervention.

I founded Women & Whiskey as a means of empowering women in the beverage production industry. It is my goal to share the stories of women past and present in whiskey - and other spirits - in order to challenge the historical narrative and share herstory.

As Product and Talent Development Specialist, I am tasked with enhancing the guest experience and ensuring the growth of our staff at London Underground. I maintain the full cocktail and whiskey menus, ensuring that they are accurate and appealing to guests. I generate these in Microsoft Word.I plan, research, and execute public tasting classes to provide value-added experiences for guests.I stay on top of industry trends and item cost to make inventory recommendations and changes. I utilize Microsoft Excel to keep track of all relevant data.I train staff on proper bar and service technique, relevant local and state laws, and connect them to appropriate professional development opportunities. I believe healthy staff relationships are key to business success. I strive to provide our staff with educational development opportunities, constructive feedback, and a healthy work-life balance.I also provide guidance on collaborative events and partnerships with local charities, nonprofits, and businesses.

I managed Utility Billing accounts, processed payments, managed community room rentals, and worked on other special tasks as assigned.

I opened and operated the bar multiple days a week.I was responsible for completing all opening tasks - stocking beer, wine, and liquor; low inventory alerts to management; cleaning all contact surfaces; preparing all fresh ingredients; stock paper and other single-use supplies - before opening the bar for service.I prepared all drinks for customers in the restaurant. This included preparing water carafes and sodas, cocktails, coffee, wine, and beer.I anticipated daily sales and trends to ensure appropriate fresh ingredients were available each day.I maintained excellent levels of surface for guests at the bar top while also providing servers with their drinks in a timely fashion.I took food and beverage orders from guests at the bar, in the lounge, and waiting in the entry area.I maintained a level of knowledge and expertise related to the food menu, wine offerings, cocktails, desserts, coffee, beer, and spirits selection. I suggested appropriate food and beverage pairings to guests based upon their preferences.I balanced the drawer at the end of each shift.

I work to ensure our guests are matched with the most special gift and collectible purchase item to suit their needs. I stay on top of consumer trends and product information to ensure I am able to match our customers to the products they desire. I also handle the marketing and social media presence of the store, including the Facebook page.

At the World's Window, I navigated the world of nonprofit fundraising by assisting in the management of the retail storefront. I was responsible for general upkeep of the store, as well as research into current and new product lines. I greatly enjoyed the ability to analyze sales data and correlate that to consumer behavior and trends.

I worked under Dr. Scott Giese to analyze green sand mixtures using Near Infrared (NIR) Spectroscopy. I collected and handled samples, ran tests, collected data, and created reports of our findings. Though unsuccessful, we aimed to create a predictive method to determine the levels of moisture and clay in a green sand mixture.

At Kwik Trip, I prepared food for guests in a timely manner. I was also responsible for completing specific tasks during each shift to prepare for the following shifts. My sampling duties afforded me the opportunity to educate customers about the quality food options offered by Kwik Trip, Inc., and allowed me to build relationships with them.

I worked to promote STEM to k-12 students, educators, and families throughout Northeast Iowa. I maintained our Social Media presence, drafted and sent press releases for various events, wrote and voiced radio and video ads, oversaw the creation of the new Hub website, and interacted with professionals across the state to ensure our efforts were successful. One of my favorite responsibilities in this position was creating an interactive Flight Simulator presentation and demonstration to engage youth (and adults!) at various events.

I worked on Physics Education research with Dr. Jeff Morgan. We surveyed High School Physics teachers throughout the entire state about their demographics, backgrounds, teaching resources and styles, and beliefs about their students' education, among other things. This project culminated in a presentation at Argonne National Lab during the Undergraduate Research Symposium in 2013.
