Dariel Curren is a seasoned marketing and communications professional with more than 30 years of experience in public relations, marketing strategy, consulting, project management, branding, websites and digital and social media. Dariel has worked with Development Counsellors International since 1995 and was named the director of the company’s Economic Development Division in January 2010. Known as the “Leader in Marketing Places,” DCI specializes in economic development and tourism marketing and has helped more than 400 cities, regions, states, provinces and countries attract business investment and visitors since the firm was founded in New York City in 1960.Dariel’s economic development and tourism clients have spanned the world, including destinations from Maine to Miami and New York to New Zealand. She regularly works with C-level executives, mayors and governors, and occasionally even heads of state.Dariel has been a featured speaker for the International Economic Development Council, TexasOne, Virginia Economic Developers Association, New Jersey Urban Mayors Association and numerous other economic development organizations. She has played a pivotal role in the development of DCI’s Winning Strategies in Economic Development Marketing survey of corporate executives and site selection consultants and has also been published in IEDC Journal.Raised on a dairy farm in upstate New York, Dariel is a graduate of Brown University.
