JS dork. I seem to have a habit of getting hired to build out SPAs. I’m a spec-head with a reputation as a sort of ‘human MDN’ and have made some (minor) contributions to platform standards, including ECMAScript.My favorite work has often been library code, ‘front end architecture,’ and mentoring.Areas of strength:- SPAs / PWAs- Clientside routing- Accessibility, SEO, and responsiveness- Working closely with designers- Typography (used to make awful fonts when I was a kid!)- Internationalization (in particular wrt typographic considerations)- Web components- SVG, CSS- Parsing, grammars, macros, compilation, tooling, ‘meta’ nonsense in general- Making websites load/run fast- Reluctant to claim this as a strength, but I do know a good amount about clientside security / CSPs.- DocumentationWeak points:- Not a generalist. I go deep on web platform technologies but outside of that space I’m generally not experienced.- The dark side of being a voracious spec reader might be a tendency to do poorly in low-information contexts.- Anything RDBMS. I don’t even know SQL.Some specific non-platform technologies I have significant experience with:- Angular, React, LitElement- Node, Express- MongoDB, MongooseStuff I’d rather not have to deal with:- TypeScript, PHP- Redux- IEI prefer remote work. I pretty much do nothing but code, but I get most of my work done at night.Stray facts:- I worked in record stores most of my life, usually as resident (and dubious) “classical specialist.”- No school. Programming was just a hobby, got very lucky.- I can author SVGs, including pathdata, by hand.
