Vice President, Major Projects - NorthAltalink Jan 2010 - Feb 2016Calgary, Alberta, CaMy greatest achievements in this role would be cradle to grave completion of 2 critical transmission infrastructure (CTI) projects in Alberta totalling $2.4B in new assets:► Pioneered the province’s first HVDC system, the (1000MW) Western Alberta Transmission Line (WATL).► Lead the Heartland Transmission Project, Alberta’s first double circuit 500kV.► Chaired both WATL and Heartland facility hearing panels; some of the most contentious ever in Alberta.► Was a key witness for Deferral Account Reconciliation for Heartland which represented 700M$ of 1.5B$.These projects set the precedent for what will be a intergenerational transmission build cycle in Alberta.Plus to support the massive build:► Negotiated key supplier agreement for 100kt of tower steel from India.► Negotiated key supplier agreement for over 5000km Falcon conductor from Bahrain.► Negotiated key supplier agreement for 500kV insulators from China. -

Mission accomplished.► Propelled from 26 staff + $64M p.a. to 100 staff + $460M, adding nearly $900M in new and sustaining capital in 5 years.► Envisaged and enabled the development of modular substations for fast track delivery.► Developed and negotiated several key outsourced capacity augmentation agreements for power system planning, stakeholder engagement and environmental assessments.Plus:► Redesigned the fundamental Projects Group structure with remained relatively unchanged through to 2015.► Represented AltaLink on the AESO Direct Assign Rules Development Committee.► Participated in developing the Transmission Facilities Cost Monitoring Committee Terms of Reference for Alberta Department of Energy.
