Hello, my name is Darin Redfox and I'm a young adult from The Bronx. For my work history I've been working in the mailroom but I'm aiming to shift my way into the information technology (IT) field. While I've tried coding programs, they never interested me much since I'm not the type to sit around all day in front of a computer which is why I'm focusing in the hardware area of IT. My mailroom experience has been primarily working for outsourced companies (Swiss Post and IST Management) at advertising and public relation firms at McCann Worldgroup, Weber Shandwick, and IPG. I'm currently a student at Year Up in their IT track where I spend six months training in tech and develop a professional brand and the next six months in an internship related to my track, IT. I've learned about the different components on the motherboard, currently learning about networks and how to use excel and later on about operating systems and cyber security. I'm also learning professional soft skills to help me better navigate the workplace.A personal passion of mine is using tools and software that are created in maintaining and protecting the user since I prefer the internet to remain what it was, a decentralized platform. Some of the tools I use are Protonmail, Brave and the Dissenter browser, and DuckDuckGo as a primary search engine.
