• Forecast & Manage budgetary spend for the APR / Communications R & D group.• Manage thirteen direct reports located in the US / UK and external engineering resources (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Acoustic, Programmers (Embedded, App, iOS, Windows), testing and Certification) to meet design requirements and project timing.• Participate in internal technology summits to discuss new technologies and define company roadmaps.• Drove significant investment to increase lab capabilities: P25 Radio network, LRPL chamber, Radiant heat test panel, Hemi-Anechoic chamber/Acoustic Equipment (HATS, STI & PESQ), Taber abrader/Light, and Facepiece washer and dryer.• Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to collect valuable VOC/VOB, create Product Road Maps and develop product / project specifications. Once defined I create technical and test specifications. • Research, develop and maintain engineering and technology partnerships.• A member of the Tyco Growth Initiative to develop new technology: Firefighter of the Future. Manager and lead engineer for the development of the Scott Sight System (Thermal in mask).• Manage the development of Full-Facepiece, Halfmask & PAPR Respiritory Protection products and Communication products.•Architect and Manager or the Vision C5 facepiece platform.•Managed the development of the AVIVA half mask product. • Managed the development of the Duroflow PAPR product.• Managed the development and launch of the AV3000 HT facepiece. • Architect and Manager of the EPIC 3 communication system. Product meets 2013 NFPA standards, is intrinsically safe and is IP66/67 rated. Utilizing project to obtain DFSS Black Belt Certification.• Participate in NFPA technical committees (1981, 1801, 1802 & 1982) to assist development of the standards • Utilize Agile product development
