I've spent over a decade helping organizations shine by engaging with the developer community. I love public speaking and sharing my thoughts through blogs to make complex technical ideas easy to understand. You could say I was doing DevRel before it even had a name, thanks to my background as a Software Engineering tutor and professor at Universidad ORT Uruguay.I'm passionate about coding and plan to keep at it. Over the last 20 years, I've built high-performance solutions both in the cloud and on-premise using i.e. AWS, GCP, NGINX, PM2, and Redis. I've worked with backend technologies like JavaScript, Ruby, .Net, and Java; managed databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL; and used web frameworks such as ASP.NET MVC and Ruby on Rails. Also, throughout my career I've managed projects using both agile methods like Scrum and XP, as well as more traditional approaches. From gathering requirements to delivering top-notch products, I've been involved in every step of the development process. I also have experience guiding students in their degree final projects, encouraging self-managed teams and collective growth.Lastly, I'm deeply interested in connecting scientific research with practical software development. That's why I pursued a Master's in Engineering focused on Software Engineering research at Universidad ORT Uruguay.

End-Of-Degree Projects TutoringUniversidad Ort Uruguay Aug 2016 - PresentMontevideo, Montevideo, UyThe end-of-degree project is a complex task where undergraduate students must integrate the concepts, content, knowledge, procedures, and skills they have developed throughout their studies. As a tutor, I believe my job is to help students sort things out. Since they have never faced real situations or problems before, I feel it is my responsibility to guide them with advice from my own experience. Additionally, it's always important to keep an eye on their written and oral presentation preparations. -
Software Engineering ProfessorUniversidad Ort Uruguay Mar 2013 - Feb 2022Montevideo, Montevideo, UyThe objective of these courses was to provide students with the basic theoretical and practical concepts of software engineering. The main areas of the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (SWEBOK) were studied in three courses. The first two focused on the traditional Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), while the last one concentrated on agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban/XP) following the Team-Based Learning (TBL) format. -
Software Engineering Advisor/ConsultantSelf-Employed Mar 2013 - PresentAs an advisor I'm a problem definer, acting as an impartial sounding board to test ideas and identify pros and cons of different courses of actions. I provide my clients new and broader perspectives to solve their problems and many times, I do early-warnings about emerging problems (Doomsayer role). This is something that's often missed by consultant's sharpened focus on getting rid off the problem at hand.https://dariomac.com/software-engineering-advisor-consultant
