Primary focus was the prevention of waste into the Pee-Posh wetlands by regular cleaning of the trash rack at its head flow. Monitor two EPA designated criterion pollutants on the Gila River Indian Community PM-10 and Ozone. Calibrate ambient air monitoring equipment and trouble shoot when need. Maintain records of data collected which passed a federal audit. Assisted in community outreach projects, local presentations, and school educational events. Positioned within the Gila River Indian Community's Department of Environmental Quality for a year of volunteer service through the Americorps program my main project is helping out with the habitat restoration project at the tribes main wetland. The project includes invasive species removal, clearing trash collecters in the stream, and replanting indigenous species of plants. Along with helping the department projects such as implementing a recycling program and focusing on projects for Gila River earth day celebration.
