Laboratory Of Intelligent Systems

Implementation and characterisation on a homemade drone of a bio-inspired algorithm for collision-free navigation in cluttered environments. The algorithm was based on the saccadic flight strategy of flies, flying straight for long periods of time and turning rapidly. Optic flow information was gathered during forward flight 360 degrees around the agent before calculating a collision avoidance direction. Our drone demonstrated collision-free navigation in various controlled environments.

The main project was the statistical analysis of eBee drone performance based on extensive flight data, which lead to a comprehensive security assessment and subsequent regulatory approval for unrestricted flight in Switzerland. On the side, I optimized flight testing and quality assurance procedures, significantly reducing time per unit and improving operational efficiency overall.

We extended the research on the color-making procedures from the previous internship, focusing on the development of new products. In parallel, I trained and mentored an intern to continue the research, ensuring the smooth progression in advanced color technologies.

I Participated in Model United Nations (MUN) EPFL as a delegate and later served as Vice President, engaging in high-level debates focused on global socio-political issues at conferences around the world in Seoul, Rome, Brussels and more. As Vice President, I collaborated closely with the President to manage the team, organize debate sessions, and coordinate between members, the board, and conference organizers. Gained experience in leadership, team management, and event coordination.
