ABOUT THE BUSINESSI am the owner and founder of Cali Barber LLC. A veteran owned business committed to dope haircuts and creating "The CALI Collection". I’m originally from Oakland, CA. I served in and for the US Army for over 16 years. Fort Campbell was my last duty station and that’s how I ended up in Tennessee. I never aspired to be a barber or businessman even though I had been cutting hair for many years. My Dad had some clippers and I started cutting people in my neighborhood back in 1979. Before I knew it I had a line forming. Same thing happened at Grambling State University. All the guys wanted to get fresh for the parties. It continued in the Army. In a lot of countries the barbers have never cut black men from the United States. We like crisp hairlines, fresh fades, sculpted beards, basically we like to look fly. So I became HIM on accident, “The Army Barber”Like I said before, Fort Campbell was my last duty station and after tours in Iraq, Israel, Afghanistan and others I was done. Made Tennessee my home, I absolutely love it here. The VA called and said I have $30K I had to use or lose for a GI Bill I signed up for. I still credit my Mom for my business. She suggested I go to Barber School because as she said," You've been cutting hair all your life"While I was in Barber School something strange happened. Have you ever had a job where you did all the work and someone else got the credit? Well I have too and I didn't like it. But whenever I cut someone's hair and they liked it and got compliments, No one else could take the credit for it but me. That's what drove me to become the very best barber in Nashville, Tennessee. Cali Barber LLC is a perfect example of a veteran owned company that is committed to helping people look and feel their best, while also giving back to the community. I started The CALI Foundation. We have an annual back to school bash where I help the parents out a bit by providing backpacks and other school supplies, food, games, face painting and just an overall good time for everybody attending.
