Darius Spencer is a Senior Film Production major at Howard University, who has gained (in)valuable experiences and insights into the world of filmmaking, from writing and directing to editing and cinematography. Darius is a fellow of Howard Entertainment Cohort IV in partnership with Amazon Studios and won 1st place among Physical Production Managers for the most viable capstone film budget and schedule while his whole team also won 1st place for the best overall viable capstone film "A Better Day" chosen by Amazon Studios executives and Howard University faculty members. After establishing his Independent film production company, Renaissaunt Studios, he directed his first in-house production: "Viola & the Painter" which, among other festivals, was selected for the 14th Annual DMV International Film Festival, and awarded Honorable Mention at The HBCU First Look Film Festival and Tour. Darius uses his film equipment to also produce other Undergraduate and MFA films from pre- to post-production. His contribution as Director of Photography on "Sincerely, Jonah", an Undergraduate Thesis Film, was awarded the Focus Features Innovation and Creativity Award at the Howard Thesis Showcase, as well as the the Faith and Family category and Grand prize at the aforementioned HBCU First Look Film Festival and Tour. Darius has also assisted in various roles on over 30 different MFA, undergraduate and commercial projects as Production Assistant, Gaffer, Key and Best Grip, 1st and 2nd Assistant Camera, Sound Mixer and Boom Operator. These pursuits have led him to intern at companies like TMZ and Amazon Studios, where he made lasting connections, gained direct industry knowledge and guidance while working with talented creatives and professionals. His goal is to help bring stories and experiences to life for those who need his services.
