Seeking for robust therapeutic targets for complex traits ... -> last update: 13-Nov-2024I'm a researcher in Statistical Genetics and Bioinformatics under supervision of Dr. Cristian Pattaro at EURAC Research Institute in Bolzano, Italy. In my PhD project, a part of a larger consortium (TrainCKDis) addressing chronic kidney diseases (CKD) from various aspects, I am investigating the characteristics of genetic determinants for kidney function using enriched data derived from a family-based cohort, CHRIS study (>13K participants), in South Tyrol, Italy. I am applying post-GWAS techniques for complex traits such as PheWAS, mediation analysis, mendelian randomization, QTL mapping, reconstructing haplotypes with exonic variants, rare variants tests (gene burden, SKAT/O, ACAT), polygenic risk score, machine learning-based phenotyping, and multiomics data analysis approaches on an integrated programming environment empowered by high performance computers. These analytical pipelines help characterize the genetic loci associated with kidney phenotypes and identify effect modifiers/mediators and novel kidney endophenotypes/biomarkers. Ultimately, the findings of our research on WES, targeted metabolomics, proteomics data in the CHRIS study would unravel the potential biological mechanism through which variants exert their effect on the phenotypes.I received my bachelor's degree in Statistics and master's degree in Biostatistics from Iran, when I was fortunate to acquire practical knowledge on the application of machine learning techniques for diabetes type II's risk classification.Given that the findings of my current PhD research project have been coming out with outstanding upshots, you will find more on "Featured" section down below.Business passions: Statistical Genetics, Target identification & validation.
