He quickly realised he wasn't getting the client interaction he preferred out of IT work and looked for other ways and industries to use his quantitative and process skills. This led him to finance and banking where he made his mark, firstly with the ANZ bank, and subsequently with Westpac.At ANZ Darko established skills in wealth protection and debt reduction through ANZ Financial Planning and then completed his banking career as a 'Senior Business Acquisition Manager for Commerical Banking' with Westpac. As acquisition manager he was responsible for the sourcing, structuring and management of loan facilities up to fifteen million dollars.
