About Darla Decker, Ph.D.

As an experienced independent museum professional, I lead content strategy and content development for a variety of projects, collaborating with clients to tell engaging stories through exhibition design and interactive media. My aim is to inspire and motivate—to help clients achieve new levels of thinking and bring ideas to life across a designed experience.I have provided content-related services for projects worldwide, including in the U.S., Mexico, Europe, and the Middle East. I have worked with several renowned museums and historic houses, including the White House in Washington D.C., the National Immigration Museum at Ellis Island, the Raclin Murphy at the University of Notre Dame, the Museo del Vaquero in Baja California Sur, the Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, and the National Gallery of Art and Arts + Industries Building at the Smithsonian, among others. This work is in partnership with top design firms, including Bluecadet, ESI, Gallagher, Local Projects, Museum|Mexico City, Pentagram, Ralph Appelbaum Associates, and Thinc Design.Additional work includes content development for the UAE's National Pavilion for Expo 2020 in Dubai, the ACE Center for ABB (a showcase of Swiss robotics), and a capabilities center for WL Gore (awarded a World Class Briefing Center Award for 2022). I provided STEAM and core curriculum-based content for the LEGO House in Denmark and science-based content for ExxonMobil's Energy Center in Houston. My doctorate in American Studies, awarded by New York University under full fellowship, examined culture-based urban development plans using the Guggenheim Museum as my research model. I also completed NYU's specialized joint course in Anthropology and Cinema Studies, leading to a New York State Certificate in Culture and Media. Please be in touch!
