The mission of Jonas Philanthropies is to address the need for quality healthcare for our most vulnerable citizens by investing in solutions that can be scaled for the greatest impact.In 2009, I was recruited to direct and guide the Jonas private fund from a sponsored project to a freestanding, sustainable philanthropic organization advancing healthcare to vulnerable populations. To this end, I defined and executed the corporate strategy and operating vision, with executive responsibility for business roadmaps, P&L performance, programmatic service model design and delivery, finance, service delivery, regulatory compliance, Board relations, public-private partnerships, development, governance, and staff recruitment and development. Notable achievements:►Launching Jonas Philanthropies into a prominent healthcare development agency with a $50M fund and a $5M operating budget.►Defining the corporate governance framework, working with our initial funders, attorneys, and other stakeholders on the corporate structure, policy, by-laws, regulatory and financial compliance practices, and community outreach.►Operationalizing a transformative five-year partnership with the US Veteran’s Administration to close mental health service gaps and drive outcomes through support to 250 healthcare professionals across 50 states and around the world.►Launching the careers of more than 1,000 college nursing faculty, closing a talent gap via a national faculty training program for which we raised $25M in matching partnerships via 20 foundations and other sponsors to train educators at top universities across the entire US.►Being recognized as a prominent healthcare industry thought leader, including delivering a keynote speech at Columbia University, USC, UCLA, AACN, New York Academy of Medicine, and many conferences; receiving the University of Maryland’s Pioneering Innovator Award and Distinguished Alumna Award, and Columbia’s 20th Century Award for Healthcare Leadership.

I provided oversight on the creation of a newly unified Department of Health & Human Services, and served on the Blue Ribbon Commission on the Future of Medicaid.►Building a national profile as an appointee to the National Conference of State Legislatures HHS Committee, the Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center at the University of Maine, and the Northern New England Poison Control Center Board. Encompass Health is the nation’s largest provider of post-acute care services.I initially joined Encompass (formerly HealthSouth) managing the acquisition and integration of practices into the corporate network. I was soon promoted to a senior executive role architecting and directing the go-to-market strategy driving the expansion of home rehabilitation services across all 50 states. Notable achievements:►Leading enterprise roadmap development, business planning, KPIs, M&A transactions, and risk management.►Transforming the Home Health division into a $125M business with a 60% YoY sales increase, a 50-state footprint, and a platform for growth. For this, I led M&A transactions, stood up new offices, and drove efficiencies through Inpatient and Outpatient integrations.

This was the region’s first Medicare/Medicaid-funded home healthcare agency.Between 1982 and 1990, I founded and grew Community Healthcare into a highly successful business with a peak census of 800 patients. I built the business plan, led the capital raise, built the compliance framework, cultivated a referring physician base, negotiated strategic partnerships, and partnered with the State Department of Labor on a workforce training and funding program to close provider talent gaps.
