The Rams and I share a passion for making an impact in our community. Through communications, community service events and sharing all of the amazing initiatives and causes that the Rams support, I am using my background in writing and public relations to help them tell their stories off the field.

As a member of the Advancement team at UC San Diego, I played a daily role in creating inspired relationships between the philanthropic community and the university’s financial priorities. Here, on the leading edge of the continent, nearly 300 of us worked together to secure immediate and long-term support to fulfill UC San Diego’s vision as a student-centered, research-focused, and service-oriented public university. Our world-class faculty and physicians share a common goal of taking on society’s great challenges as they educate and provide hands-on research opportunities for our current and future generations of students, entrepreneurs, engineers, artists, policy-makers, scholars, and doctors. UC San Diego is poised on the verge of a new era of pioneering change, and I’m proud to be part of a creative, collaborative, diverse, passionate Advancement team that is embracing the power of philanthropy.

As the Communications Intern, I was responsible for researching, creating and editing media and press releases that focused on students, campus programs and university awards and accolades. My writing was used on the department's website, media releases and also sent to newswire services.

As an administrative assitant in the UCSD Health System, I assisted physicians and other medical professionals in providing exceptional patient care, scheduling and arranging clinical appointments and scheduling, facilitating patient-related departmental meetings, performing administrative tasks, such as record retrieval, purchasing, billing, correspondence, etc. Also, I was responsible for coordinating bi-weekly conferences for medical staff and physicians for Continuing Medical Education credits and submitting proper documentation of continuing education attendance.Additionally, I assisted medical specialists in coordinating grants-funded blood cancer-related research projects and meetings as well as composing and submitting educational grants for medical education in heme-malignancy courses. This was coupled with coordinating various community outreach meetings for the physicians and leaders in the San Diego community.

As a student assistant for the UCSD PACE Program, I was responsible for data entry and coordinating supplemental client files for physicians that have been referred to PACE by the Medical Board. Additionally, I arranged client files for Continuing Medical Education courses and Comprehensive Physician Assessments, as well as coordinating Physician Enhancement Program application materials and correspondence.

As a student clerical assistant at the Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery, I was responsible for scheduling and arranging clinical appointments for Bariatric and General Surgery Patients, translating for Spanish-speaking patients and entering/scanning patient data in the EPIC system. I was also responsible for retrieving outside medical records from referring and non-referring doctors and setting up sleep studies for surgery patients.

As a guest services agent and PBX Operator, I was responsible for guest reservations through online hotel websites, answering incoming and internal telephones, data entry for clients, room service orders and menus, valet services, banquet/catering events and arranging event calendars for the front desk, and arranging restaurant reservations for daily, weekend and special events.
