I hold a PhD in Biochemistry, with a strong focus on drug discovery to address infectious diseases affecting humans. My research span across pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, Mode of action studies and DMPK aiming to identify novel chemical scaffolds through natural product-based, target-based, and drug repurposing-inspired approaches. During my career journey, I have proficiently used medium-throughput techniques to screen and identify small molecules from several pharmaceutical industries and research organizations (Pfizer, Merck, Johnson &Johnson, MMV, H3D). I have therefore contributed to the progress of several research projects within Our Group, notably those funded by MMV, AAS-GCA. In line with my commitment to promoting translational research in Africa, and making a global impact, I serve as the deputy director of SPARK AFRICA, a non-profit organization that promotes the development of African scientists and innovative health solutions, by Africans and for Africans unmet medical need. I am driven by the simple observation that from the drugs that are available on the market, there are few or no drugs (vaccine) that originated from the African continent, yet we have more than 30% of the disease burden.
