The Indigenous VAM (Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping) pilot project in La Guajira, Colombia aims at focusing on the cultural particularities of the indigenous groups of Colombia to get a better understanding of who are food insecure, how many are vulenrable, where do they live, why are they food insecure, what risks do they face, and what can be done to help them improve their means of subsistence? The pilot project will provide a methodology to gather this information for each of the indigenous groups of Colombia and will provide visual (mapping), quantitative and qualitative data and analysis for desicion makers at all levels and sectors.

The project entails designing and implementing sustainability plans for five water reservoirs and their purification plants in the Alta Guajira rural zone of Uribia, La Guajira.

I taught a beginners online English course for students seeking an accounting degree at the university.

Acompany and advise youth research groups in the municipalities of Uribia, Riohacha, Maicao and Manaure. The work includes guiding the teacher and students in the use of the ethnographic method and other qualitative research techniques to answer their research questions dealing with cultural issues that will be answered at the end of the investigative process. The objective of the program is to incorporate reasearch as a teaching strategy.

This program uses as an excuse the Bicentennial of Colombia's Independence to strengthen and improve the way teacher's teach history. It promotes historical research as a teaching tool.

I taught introductory anthropology courses for two semesters to second year university students in the Accounting and Pharmacy schools.

I was a graduate teaching assistant in the anthropology department for three years. I lead discussion section in two courses: Introduction to Cultural Anthropology and Varieties of the Human Experience. I was also the GTA for the study abroad program in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica, Field Methods in Applied Anthropology.

I did an internship with the Observatorio, mainly working on translation work for office documents, coordinating and installing JSTOR, creating a research group for Colciencias, and linking the Observatorio with U.S. based academic institutions.

As an Assistant Language Teacher, I helped English teachers at the grade school and junior high school levels teach English using a variety of interactive and group activities, focusing on conversation and listenting skills.
