Having successfully completed a masters of engineering in mechanical engineering at the University of Limerick, I have taken the first step in my career by joining Aerogen as a R&D Mechanical Design Graduate, offering me the chance to exercise the skill that I developed throughout my time in university.Throughout the course of my studies I have been lucky enough to explore several subjects of engineering, including the engineering mechanics of statics and dynamics of solids and fluids, engineering mathematics, programming in MATLAB, basic electronic engineering, thermodynamics, and industrial engineering. Although my focus during my period of study has been mainly academic, I, fortunately, was afforded the opportunity to work with milling machines, lathes and other workshop equipment.During my studies I secured an internship with Aerogen, a company recognized as a pioneer and the global leader in ICU ventilator/hospital-based aerosol drug delivery. Throughout the internship I worked closely with the mechanical R&D department, designing fixtures, conducting testing, operating a 3D printer, modelling components using SOLIDWORKS, and drafting drawings using SOLIDWORKS. While working with Aerogen I was also exposed to quality management procedures, cross-department teamwork, and document management procedures. The pinnacle of the internship was my direct involvement in the design of a component, of which three million would be produced each year.I have been teaching piano since 2017. Teaching is as rewarding as it is challenging and it requires the teacher to present information in a way that can be consistently understood by the pupil. Teaching has, no doubt, improved many of my skills, primarily my networking and presentation skills. It has, especially, helped me when working with individuals who may not be engineers, having learned how to tailor information to make it more digestible. Furthermore, being self employed also requires a large amount of self discipline, good punctuation, and general maturity, particularly, when approaching work ethic.Additionally, I worked with the Tipperary ETB, editing and publishing their Christmas annual. This involved the use of Microsoft Office, namely, Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Word. I would consider myself quite competent in the use of the Microsoft suite and the use of computer software in general. Aside from this, my interests include surfing, scale modelling, music, and mechanical dissection, to name a few.
