As a Multimedia Reporter, I'm regularly tasked with quickly turning around breaking news for online in a fast-paced environment as well as putting together long-form, quality pieces for the Irish Independent's print/e-paper title.While reporting in the field, recording video content to go alongside pieces for online forms another vital part of the role.I also work shifts with our audio team researching episodes of the Indo Daily podcast, creating briefs and running orders for the podcast and booking guests. I've been a guest on the Indo Daily a number of times and have also featured on the Big Tech Show, discussing print/digital stories of my own as well as international news stories.

Produced high-quality written and visual content for the University of Galway's Student Services department, working alongside members of staff to create content which reflects the important work they do to help students.Particularly focused on producing short videos on the work done by the various arms of Student Services by conducting interviews, covering events and getting student vox pops. The content I produce has boosted engagement with the supports available to students and aims to bridge the gap between them and Student Services.Also produced written content for the web and photography ad-hoc.

Worked as Editor of the 2023 print issue of Galway Pulse, a 24-page publication produced by myself and the rest of the MA Journalism class. Pulse was included as a pullout in the April 7 issue of the Galway City Tribune.Worked closely with section editors and contributors to ensure paper was filled to deadline and to the highest quality. I am proud to say our issue of Pulse was well received by readership. It included exclusive news, a unique sports section and for the first time, a diverse and engaging international news section.Also worked closely with design and layout editors to make decisions on page layouts and pagination. Made tough calls under tight deadlines in terms of content, overall vision for the paper and ensuring contributors' work was being delivered on time.

As Deputy Editor, I assisted the Editor with the production of SIN every two weeks.This included taking on Editor's work as required, including hosting and leading newsroom meetings in their absence and collaborating with sub-editors and writers to evaluate their pitches. Also sub-edited much of the content in each issue of SIN and produced my own content as needed to fill in gaps.

Gained extensive experience in news writing, working as part of a newsroom team and interviewing, all while adapting to the changing working world brought by the pandemic and lockdown restrictions.I take immense pride in a series of long-form, centre-spread feature pieces I wrote for the Tuam Herald, including human interest stories spanning the arts, education, mental health and the impact of the Covid pandemic on the local community.
