AIB Commercial Finance Limited (“AIBCF”) is a subsidiary of Allied Irish Banks, plc. (“AIB”) which provides Invoice Discounting and Supplier Finance facilities to clients throughout Ireland and the UK. During my time at AIBCF I gained experience in the following areas of the department:Relationship Management Team• My role included managing a portfolio of over fifty clients including impaired business and top performers. My duties were comprised of the following:• Performing thorough analyses and reviews of clients’ financial and operational position in order to make appropriate recommendations for sanction. This was managed with a view to supporting clients, minimizing risk and loss to the bank and protecting the bank’s interest.• Appearing before Senior Management in addition to the Credit Risk Unit to explain and support the above recommendations.• Conducting comprehensive, on-site audits and surveys of clients’ operational procedures and systems.• Resolving problems and troubleshooting issues as they arise and producing solutions in a timely manner.• Ongoing day-to-day relationship management with clients and other divisions throughout AIB.Collateral Support Team• My role was the analysis and processing of clients’ monthly reports to AIBCF. These were comprised of month end debtors’ and creditors’ ledgers together with bank reconciliations. My portfolio was comprised of c. 90 clients. Other duties included:• Communicating and advising results of monthly analyses to clients and resolving issues relating to these analyses.• Providing technical and operational support to clients as well as assisting the relationship managers with managing their clients.Technical Liaison Official• The role of Technical Liaison Official (“TLO”) involved problem solving and troubleshooting issues that arose internally, relating to my colleagues’ computer systems and other office equipment.

My role included:• Organizing and inputting of invoices and statements, generating spreadsheet and quarterly reports.• Stocktaking, serving clients in a friendly and respectable manner and all other duties involved in bar-keeping.

During my time at Irish Rail my role was part of a new project installing Automated Ticket Vending (“ATV”) Machines in railway stations throughout Dublin and in other stations around the country. My duties included the following:• Analysis of Irish Rail’s National Fare Structure along with the exceptions to this structure on certain routes and the computerization of this data into the new database.• Testing and verification of the above information for each departure point on the rail network and problem solving for any issues that arose.• Liaising with the company supplying the software and hardware for the project in conjunction with other relevant personnel within Irish Rail.• Assisting with the installation and testing of ATV Machines in numerous railway stations throughout Ireland.• Training railway personnel in the use and upkeep of the ATV Machines. This training was conducted in both large classrooms and in one-on-one situations.
