Extensive town government and community involvement led to the creation of and sustaining of unique community events enhancing the quality of life for residents. Closing the store after 79 years in business was a difficult decision, but a successful one as the business closed on a high note with no debt. Economic factors including a road construction project taking place in front of the store and a nearly million square foot retail development a couple miles away made it clear that long term profitability would not be sustainable.
