Schedule and execute workshop work.

In my last role I have responsibility for mentoring, developing and performance managing employees. On a daily basis I am responsible for carrying out breath testing to ensure workers are fit for work, conducting toolbox talks and risk assessments, writing SOPs and supervising the work of maintenance teams and contractors.

I started as a boilermaker but was soon give the opportunity to become leading hand and then to workshop supervisor/manager. I have ten years’ experience managing a fabrication manufacturing workshop where I was responsible for ensuring a quality product was delivered in a safe and timely manner.In this role, I was responsible for scheduling labour with six permanent workshop employees and up to 20 personnel from our services department. I planned and allocated job priority as well as supervised daily workshop activities, remaining vigilant with staff to ensure safety standards and quality were maintained.On a daily basis I am responsible for carrying out breath testing to ensure workers are fit for work, conducting toolbox talks and risk assessments, writing SOPs and supervising the work of maintenance teams and contractors. I was also responsible for liaising with engineering staff and estimating jobs for the sales department. In this, and other roles, I’ve been required to interact daily with external suppliers to negotiate pricing.

I was a shop floor boilermaker given an opportunity to become a leading hand. I was hands mentoring employees in the fabrication field and over seen quality of welding, fabrication, assembly, painting of the completed products.

Began my boilermaking apprenticeship being mentored on the job with senior tradesman in the repair and maintenance of a power station. On completion of my apprenticeship I was send to Wangi Wangi power station to complete 3 months of intensive training to obtain my pressure welding tickets 3E, 4, 5, 7 & 8, once completed I moved into repair and replacement of pressure vessels and mentoring apprentices.
