Providing government affairs and association management services to trade associations. Work includes representing the association to all state government agencies, primarily the Legislature and regulatory agencies. Helping clients increase visibility during election years. I also do full service association management including membership retention and recruitment, event planning and fundraising, communications and budgeting.

Represented Oregon's 36 elected Sheriffs as a lobbyist and served as an interim association manager for just over one year.

Managed the state’s largest trade association representing licensed motor vehicle dealers. Directed state-approved trade school which provides pre-licensing and continuing education for motor vehicle dealers. Served as instructor for the trade school. Lobbied state regulatory agencies. Initiated weekly “E-Zine” to all members. Drafted the industry’s most in-depth and extensive review and response to the Attorney General’s proposed redraft of administrative rules regulating dealer sales and advertising. Reversed decline in association membership.

Lobbied the state legislature, executive branch and administrative/enforcement agencies. In conjunction with national association, coordinated contact with members of Oregon’s Congressional delegation. Drafted legislation and amendments. Provided written and oral testimony on relevant legislation and rules. Represented association before all state government policy-making bodies, including DMV, DEQ and DOJ. Developed the association’s campaign budget and strategy (increased from $80,000 to $300,000). Raised money to reach goals and direct all campaign contributions. Responded to members’ inquiries about state law and administrative rules. Responsible for content of government affairs page in association magazine. (Past President, Oregon Highway Users Alliance; Past President, Oregon Small Business Coalition; Past member, Capitol Club Conduct Committee. Past Chair, Capitol Club Biennial Charity Golf Tournament.)

Managed two trade associations after the Board of Directors dismissed the Executive Vice President with instructions to be out of the office within 48 hours. Oversaw $600,000 office remodeling project, managed staff, reconstructed minutes from past board meetings, built an accurate budget, reassured members and allied industries (directly and indirectly) about the future and solvency of the associations, and facilitated the 10-person executive search committee.

Managed the work load of the second busiest Senate committee during the 68th Session of the Oregon Legislature. Supervised two employees. Scheduled committee meetings. Developed agendas in cooperation with the Chair. Analyzed statutes and proposed changes. Created a detailed “Staff Measure Summary” for bills approved by the committee.Completed special projects for committee members. Wrote floor speeches for members of the committee. Prepared committee members for debates on the Senate floor. Assisted committee members in responding to questions during Senate floor debates. Negotiated with legislators and interest groups on contentious issues before the committee. Drafted amendments to legislation. Briefed committee members and interested parties on issues before the committee.

Provided political consulting and campaign services to Oregon campaigns.
