Duties and Responsibilities/AccomplishmentsProvided the intellectual leadership for planning and executing DoD CBD S&T efforts to meet chemical and biological national defense requirements. Coordinated Joint CBD Program S&T development with JCS-J8/Joint Requirements Office (JRO) for CBRN Defense and with Joint Program Executive Office (JPEO-CBD), under the oversight of the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Defense (ATSD(NCB)). Provided technical and analytical support to the ATSD(NCB). Provided scientific and technical program leadership, management, supervision, and direction to military and civilian scientists, engineers, and program managers engaged in a wide variety of science and technology programs and projects. Lead Agency actions on chemical and biological science and technology matters relating to congressional activities, interactions with senior government officials, representatives of foreign governments, industry and academia. Conducted technical and analytical assessments, executed projects and construct training tools related to CB counter-terrorism, domestic preparedness and force protection issues. Coordinated, integrated and direcedt all chemical and biological technology activities necessary to fulfill DTRA's combating WMD R&D and combat support agency roles. Direct management of 143 employees with an annual budget approximating $650M. Member of the Senior Executive Service.
