• Managed all Engineering Department disciplines.• Engineering Department consisted of six Mechanical, ten Electrical, five Systems, and five Software engineers.• Created a new baseline project schedule to reflect accurate task times, including the addition of tasks previously not accounted for, but were part of the company’s AS9100 deliverable checklist. This eliminating project cost overruns that were in the 30-40 percent range.• For new proposals, assisted the engineers with developing Technical Volumes, reviewing SOWs, and Compliance Matrixes to address all requirements from the customer. The win rate for new proposals was around 85-90%.• Attended multiple technical customer visits and trade shows.• Created work instructions for part numbering and Product Data Management.

• Coordinated all Engineering Department functions at this location. This included Configuration management and coordination of two engineering teams as well as three test lab technicians.• Fluid controls team consisted of ten Project, Design, and FEA Engineers.• Motors team consisted of four Project, Design, and Electro-Magnetic Engineers.• Implemented major design and manufacturing improvements including: Complete revision to the ESIOP forecast covering 20+ projects, new business proposals, and sustaining engineering. Changes included more information on supply, demand, variances to the plan and coordinated schedule impacts with Program Managers. Reinstituting the use of basic processes such as DFMEA’s (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis) for all projects, which reduced the number of components, and made products easier to manufacture. Revision to checking procedures to reduce queue time from one week to less than two days. Creation of design guidelines for two product families which prevented the release of non-conforming products to production.

• Led design teams for all tourist-class seat families, including three programs for Slimplus, seven for the Z85 and four Z2 programs. On-site teams consisted of seven Project and 15 Design Engineers along with 20 off-site engineers in Gainesville, TX and Chihuahua, Mexico. Seats were developed to meet OEM and customer requirements, with the ultimate goal of receiving a TSO.• Mentored P.E.s to achieve lower rejection rates for drawings and improve quality.• Testing performed included sled runs of 14g downward, 16g row to row, along with 120 reliability and static tests.

• Managed all engineering functions for Digitran, Arga Controls, and Paraline business units. This included design, program management, document control, and manufacturing engineering. • Developed a new product line of switches qualified on Boeing, Airbus, Learjet and Sikorsky aircraft, and was in the process of being qualified to MIL-DTL-3786. • Updated engineering processes to obtain AS9100 certification, and developed engineering guidelines with standardized drawings for common parts to reduce design time and costs.

• Responsible for the technical oversight and management of all Engineering projects in this Group. Post-9/11, Adams Rite Aerospace won contracts to provide reinforced cockpit door hardware for all Airbus and large Boeing aircraft. • Represented Adams Rite at all FAA/EASA/Airbus Management meetings, resulting in orders totaling $24 million the first year and $16 million the second. • Coordinated ARA Engineering and Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) to obtain an STC from the FAA/EASA for the new BAe-146 aircraft Cockpit Door Locking System. This certified system was modified for other customers including Antonov.

• Overall responsibilities included the technical oversight and management of all interna¬tional projects within Engineering. Each project was coordinated with International Sales and Hartwell manufacturing facilities in Mexico, Germany, and the United States. • Managed the Document Control, Stress and Check Groups, as well as Technical Publications. • Wrote, implemented, and maintained Design Engineering procedures to conform to ISO9001, resulting in an 84% decrease in document release time to production.
