I started construction in the summer of 1972. Fresh out of high school, I became a Mason apprentice and Journeyman. By the age of 20, I had made my way to Foreman. I began pouring 10 home slabs a week, totaling 110 foundations in just 3 months. By far one of the best experiences ever. Shortly there after, I became a Certified Block Setter Mason Journeyman, Certified by the State of Hawaii. At the age of 29, I became a General Contractor. My first contract was a subcontract with Group Builders for a for a rough and finish carpentry contract. (tell what rough and finish carpentry is) Other jobs include being a subcontractor for Pan Pacific Construction.I was responsible for their project, Project Maunalani Point Phase II located on the Kona Coast of the Big Island. This was a resort Condominium estimated at 12 million dollars. The Park Hotel subcontracted me to do their finish carpentry installation of 25 stories while I simultaneously constructed 36 single family homes for Phase I in Kuliouou. I later built 20 more custom homes for Phase II in Kuliouou. I gradually downsized to a four man operation, still building new homes, doing additions and renovations for home owners.Then in 2008 I was I went into retirement. At this time in my life I feel the desire to teach and pass on my experiences and knowledge to enable everyone to have information they can use to help themselves during these troubling times.
