Momento mori is a saying that isn’t often said so much in today’s culture, but it means stay humble in greatness you are not immortal (infallible). When most employees are looking for accolades, awards, achievements, and looking to climb the corporate ladder looking for a fancy title I’ve learned that the best way to achieve success is by practicing Momento Mori, humbleness. As a youngster, I would look up to my dad who often taught me that, nothing is impossible. He’d often say, "Can't never could, and could always did.”I took the “I can do anything approach” my dad instilled in me at a young age and carried it throughout my military career always open-minded to taking on challenges that would allow me to think outside the box and sharpen my skillsets. Having served in the U.S. Navy for over 10 years and being pushed beyond my limiting beliefs was a daily obstacle I had to face, but it allowed me to become resilient, and quitting was not an option. After being groomed by both my dad and the military to have a “figure it out attitude” I knew that there was no challenge to large that a civilian job could give me that I wouldn’t somehow be able to figure out a solution. As a matter of fact, when I was working as an electronic engineer, I was able to modify computers and other equipment that would need to pass through UL certification. I put my knowledge of RF communications to practice in warehouse installations using handheld computers. Something I had never done before but knew that if I was patient, researched what I didn’t know, and relied on the skillsets I had already acquired I would find a solution to the problem.Remaining humble, having a mindset that anything is possible, choosing not to quit, and keeping an open mind have allowed me to become adaptable to many industries. As I continue on my professional career journey, I’m looking for a new company where I can continue to learn, grow, adapt, and help a company overcome its biggest challenges. Allow me to help you move past your frustrations, look at finding solutions from a different angle, and educate you along the way in areas of the unknown.
