Prior to joining the police force I spent 10 months as a correctional officer for my department in Chatham county. The reason why that “journey” was cut short was because I was promised a chance to go to BLET but it never came which motivated me to apply to Wake County Sheriff Department as a C.O. Upon talking to investigator at the time he asked me “Do you want to be a deputy?”. I said “Yes sir”, he said “Alright now I’m putting my neck on the line for you.” While still employed with Wake County Sheriff Office (1yr and 4-6months in), I started my process in joining the US Army. After an extraneous 6-7 months of boot camp and Advanced individual training I came back home right back to work in the Sheriff’s office. Upon my return September of 2021 I now Deputy and Solider Sheppard was moved to SRO from the wake County Courthouse which is considered a specialized unit in The Sheriff Department. Since then I have built great relationships with the kids and staff. Everyone I run into wether it be on their best or worst day is met with love and care, most definitely concern for their safety. Meet people with an attitude and face of “How can I help you?” and “What happened today?” Instead of “what’s wrong with you?”. We all need love, care and someone willing to be what it is you are missing even if you have mo clue what that thing is yet. On a shorter not I love music writing/rapping/singing and physical fitness. I love to condition my mind so the body follows.
