Officer Stubbs has over 25 years of service as a law enforcement professional with the Gila County Sheriff’s Office and the Miami Police Department. His experience extends from patrolling in the communities, the open highways, on the lakes and managing inmates and daily activities in the jails. Officer Stubbs is respected as a leader among his law enforcement peers! He served as a classroom and boating instructor for Arizona’s P.O.S.T. (Police Officer Training Program) and has provided countless hours of law enforcement training to officers in the County and around the state. Officer Stubbs also serves as the local president of the Choir Boys; a police officer motorcycle club dedicated to providing support to the families of injured and fallen officers. Through this organization and others, Officer Stubbs serves as a unifier in the law enforcement community.

Concerned about the issues facing Gila County, in 2008 Deputy Stubbs retired after over 20 years service as a Gila County Sheriff’s Deputy, (as required by law) and ran for Gila County Sheriff. He lost in the primary to Sheriff John R. Armer, who recently announced his retirement. Officer Stubbs quickly re-engaged in law enforcement after the election by serving in the community as a patrol officer for the Town of Miami (where he worked earlier in his career) and also as a youth counselor in one of our tribal communities.During his tenure as a Gila County Sheriff’s Deputy, Stubbs was a leader on many of the critical issues affecting the region, including serving as a member of the Gila County Narcotics Task Force, coordinating community activities for D.A.R.E and G.R.E.A.T and serving as the School Resource Officer in four of the school districts in the County.
