HealthTech Maine™ helps Maine health technology entrepreneurs, e.g. Physicians, Nurses, Researchers, Scientists, Inventors, Engineers and Experienced Healthcare Industry Professionals, acquire Maine Technology Institute (MTI) and Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants to produce innovative medical technologies or novel healthcare IT solutions for the U.S.$2.8 trillion dollars healthcare marketplace. We, more importantly, help health technology entrepreneurs formulate, start and build successful small health technology-based businesses. HealthTech Maine™ also works with eligible established Maine-based small firms interested in developing medical technologies or healthcare IT solutions.

Created and taught a five-week, interactive course on entrepreneurship. The course instructed students how to use research, critical thinking, creativity, team building, communications, and presentation skills necessary to solve an identified market problem that results in the development of a startup business.

WETC, under Mr. Williams' leadership, won three (3) US Small Business Administration Office of Technology grants to provide information, training and consulting services to Washington, DC-area small high technology firms and aspiring technology entrepreneurs interested in winning Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants/contracts. From 1999 through 2004, WETC's SBIR outreach efforts served 600 DC-area small high technology firms and individuals combined.

The Columbia Capital Group, a non-bank lender, provided debt (loans) and venture capital to Washington, DC-based small businesses. Developed, planned and executed overall marketing and client recruitment strategy. Developed and executed external communications strategy which included media relations. Worked with senior staff to review small business loan applications.
