Before having me, my mother used to work as an accountant. However she gave up her career goals to take care of me and my sister to be a stay-at-home mum. She would often tell me about the joys of her work, what she used to do and how much she enjoyed her work.Even before getting my GCE 'O' Level results, I always knew that I wanted to go to a polytechnic to specialise in a field, just that I didn't know what that was. After getting my results and having a plethora of options, my parents encouraged me to take a business related course as they felt that I would learn and excel in this field. I chose to pursue a Diploma in Accounting and Finance in Nanyang Polytechnic as I was inspired by my mother.Whilst pursuing for a Diploma, I was required to attend an internship as part of my course requirements, and I completed a 6 month internship at Foo Kon Tan LLP where I worked as an internal auditor. Although the initial learning curve was steep, I felt that I was learning something new everyday. I enjoyed my time in Foo Kon Tan LLP as the experience was rewarding and it was my first foray in the working world as it was my first full-time job. I became more interested in the world of auditing and felt that this is a career path that is suited for me.After getting my Diploma, as a Singaporean male, I was conscripted to serve the nation. I was then selected to attend the Specialist Cadet School where I made a lot of personal growth and was given various opportunities to hone my leadership and critical thinking skills.After completing my National Service, I had two choices, to enter the working force or to go to a University to further develop my technical skills. I decided to pursue a Bachelors of Science in Accounting and Finance under SIM - University of London as I felt that I had a passion in the accounting sector, and I needed to further enhance my technical knowledge in order to give myself a competitive advantage. Throughout my time during my University journey, I am proud to mention that I managed to attain a Second Upper Class Honours and I accomplished my goal of enhancing my technical knowledge and prowess in order to be well-equipped and to contribute as much as possible when I enter into the working force, and I am definitely excited to start my journey as an auditor.
