An LSS Pooled Trust helps individuals with disabilities manage their financial assets and/or gifts to improve quality of life while maintaining public benefits. While I was at LSS, we saw revenue double and the trust assets grow from $9M to $16M. This was achieved in part, through strong relationships we developed with elder law / trust attorneys and also through the acquisition of a smaller nonprofit.

As a Regional Director, I had responsibility for the operational leadership in a 20 county area with the goal of providing programming related to families, youth, agriculture and community vitality. I worked with County Commissioners, County Extension Committees, and county and regional Educators.

World Relief Minnesota (now Arrive Ministries) resettles refugees in the Twin Cities metro area. This involves working with displaced populations and assisting them to become self-sufficient and integrated into the larger community. I was involved in responding to RFPs and compliance activities related to funding that we obtained. In addition, I initiated new programing, and was involved in HR, advocacy, communications and fundraising.

As an International Mentor, I trained indigenous leaders to mobilize their communities using participatory approaches in problem assessment, appreciative inquiry, and capacity building. Communities then identified their problems, resources, and developed interventions in the areas of agriculture, preventive health, and appropriate technologies for self help.I served as team leader for the work in NE Nigeria and was a team member on the Cambodia team.

The Dorothy Day Center is a multi-service facility for homeless individuals and families in poverty. I served as Director of the center having a staff of 15-20, budget of $1.3M, and large contingent of volunteers. The center provided up to 500 meals/day, was an overnight shelter for up to 150 individuals, and provided direct and employment services.

ECHO provides technical resources to development workers and others involved in subsistence agriculture in the tropics. I provided leadership for the intern program and their cross-cultural experience in Haiti. In addition, I authored technical publications related to appropriate technologies for subsistence farmers and small business innovators in developing countries.

I was involved in language and culture learning (Digo people group) and the early phases of a community-based development project in Kwale District. I also served as the Director of Administration for the East Africa regional office.
