The retail store (Hill Country Outdoor Power) offers service and sales of outdoor power equipment to consumers, professional landscapers and other businesses having significant landscape maintenance needs.Reporting to the general manager of the company, I am responsible for all operations of the H.R. and finance departments. Primary areas of focus include cash management, banking relationships, accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable, budgeting, payroll and H.R. management. All responsibilities are fulfilled with the help of 3 direct reports and utilization of outside services primarily for legal, H.R., and payroll processing. First year improvements included implementation of a new H.R. system and payroll processing agreement, monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, monthly reporting of departmental operating results against budgeted amounts, new time clock system and reporting, and implementation of a new 401(k) plan.

Bally was a national operator of health clubs prior to ceasing operations in late 2016. The company was operating nearly 300 health clubs prior to significant divestitures in November, 2011 and April, 2012.Managed the consolidation of corporate accounting operations from two locations into one, resulting in a 67% headcount reduction and $1 million in annual cost savings. This consolidation, achieved in less than 6 months, was a cost-reduction measure undertaken more than 3 years prior to the closure of the company’s health club locations. Managed the finance department’s implementation of automated subsystem revenue feeds to Oracle general ledger system through the assistance of I/T personnel, resulting in significant accounting efficiency and reduction of closing process cycle time. Key participant and subject matter expert in definition of business requirements for implementation of Oracle A/P and G/L modules.Primary day-to-day responsibility was management of all corporate accounting functions and account analyses, including self-insurance reserves, debt, legal settlement reserves, professional fees, captive insurance company, cash receipts and disbursements, cash revenue accounting, monthly financial close process and Bally Total Fitness Franchising.
