Darrell leads HopgoodGanim’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. His expertise includes advising on property-related litigation including resumptions, contractual disputes, negligence claims, product liability litigation, class actions, insider trading and other claims brought by ASIC for statutory breaches and Royal Commissions. Darrell believes that cases are won or lost in strategy and preparation and his extremely thorough approach in this regard is demonstrable in his long track record in achieving successful outcomes for clients. In addition to his litigation expertise, Darrell is recognised as one of Queensland’s leading liquor and gaming legal advisors and Darrell represents a significant client base of major tourist operators, international and local hotel owners, sporting and other community clubs, property developers, wine producers and wholesalers in liquor and gaming regulatory matters, including defending prosecutions. Most recently, Darrell successfully represented Australian Venue Co. in their joint venture with Coles for the ongoing operation of 87 hotels under the Spirit Hotels business. This included complex Queensland liquor licensing issues, which formed a significant part of the transaction.Darrell is consistently recognised by leading publications, including recommended by Doyle’s Guide as a Leading Litigation & Dispute Resolution Lawyers — Queensland, 2015–2022.
