Managed environmental compliance and restoration projects and conducted GIS /database analysis. I managed projects to obtain construction and environmental permits and helped clients create programs to ensure compliance with permits and environmental health and safety regulations. Coordinated with clients and their subcontractors to collect data, review, and submit reports to regulatory agencies. Provided regulatory guidance, conducted audits, and reviewed current practices of client EHS programs. I helped with aspects of clients' sustainability reporting, environmental cleanup (MTCA programs), emissions, discharge, hazardous waste, and uncontrolled spill response programs.

Served multiple functions; project manager, WIRA technical expert, and research scientist for the Natural Resource Division, who implemented salmon restoration projects in the Nooksack River's upper watershed. As a project manager, I developed project concepts, worked with stakeholders and landowners, wrote grants, conducted progress meetings, obtained permits, hired contractors/consultants, and then oversaw staff monitoring environmental conditions at the construction site. In 2015, we finished a 1.8 million dollar in-stream restoration project.As a research scientist, I conducted assessments for future work and reviewed external projects and assessments that may impact the Nooksack Watershed. At LIBC, I collaborated with other departments to revamp both; habitat monitoring of completed restoration projects and the methods for documenting deteriorating forest road conditions. My contribution included the design and installation of 40 continuous loggers and 35 RTK GPS surveyed controls. The data gathered helped to revise LIBC's restoration priorities and develop innovative strategies. I prepared and gave a dozen talks and presentations on these assessments, project proposals, permit applications, and project progress for LIBC.

Primarily, I managed and conducted assessments on the potential for salmon and wetland habitat restoration or land-use redevelopment. These assessments included field investigations with sub-consultants and contractors. I developed project scopes with the clients, managed budgets, and oversaw the completion of deliverables. Secondarily, I designed GIS geodatabases to visualize temporal and modeling datasets for a broader range of projects. As a GIS analyst, I collaborated on restoration designs, feasibility studies, stakeholder meetings, and EIS reports. Teaming with other consultants or user groups, I created geodatabases, maps, and other visual aids that supported effective communication with the public, client, and regulators. Also, I designed, produced, and published a series of five recreation guides for public land within Washington State. I also operated this small business (conducted public relations, managed accounting and record-keeping, implementing information technology, and promoted business development).

Learning from my colleagues, I began conducting engineering geology, hydrogeology, and environmental contamination studies. Senior geologists and engineers mentored me in managing projects and budgets, contributing to multidisciplinary teams, and communicating results with clients and the public. After participating in two professional development training opportunities, ACEC's Project Management Course and a mentoring program, I managed junior staff. I specialized in designing and leading scientific-based assessments for natural resource-focused clients. I completed numerous drilling, coring, excavations, and instrumentation field projects. Using GIS, I oversaw hydraulic modeling projects and routing studies. I became experienced in safely accomplishing jobs in rivers, underground, remote locations, and subject to emergency/time-sensitive situations.

San Francisco Bay Area

Conducted field based data collection and analysis for ground water, soil, and surface water contamination. Created guidelines for collecting field data with a spatial reference. Developed techniques to visualize contamination using spatial and 3-D analysis.

Conducted research on the remote detection and quantification of ash from volcanic eruptions using weather satellites. Maintained, calibrated and conducted analysis on an X-ray fluorescence spectrometer. Taught lab sections for two classes. Developed a field-based Volcanic Field Camp in Mexico.

Collected field based data (samples and measurements) for on-going research into volcanic processes and quaternary geologic mapping.
