My role was working as a Fire Control / Electronics Technician that operated and maintained a weapons guidance radar and mainframe computer system for large caliber gun mounts. My security clearance also allowed me to act as a nuclear security guard. I sailed aboard the USS Conyngham (DDG-17) based in Norfolk, VA. My tour of duty took me to many areas of the world including the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, Arabian Sea and Persian Gulf while visiting 17 countries in the process.
