Promoted to company MD due to retirement of the current MD. At this point I moved out of the QA office and into the production office in order to acquire a better understanding of that department as I felt there was room for some improvement. During this 6 year period I increased the company’s turnover from £620K PA to just over £1M. This was achieved through modernisation of the company’s equipment, leaner working practices and the introduction of better quality custom, primarily in the O&G sectors. I also installed a comprehensive MRP system which brought together all the companies production, quality and administration activities into one large networked database. My primary role within the business during this period was, sales, estimating, business development and continuous improvement. I was also responsible for recruitment and discipline of the staff which exceeded 30 members.
